When winter comes, children tend to become picky eaters, which can be very frustrating for parents. But don't worry, today I'll give you a trick to make a healthy and delicious snack - pumpkin fries! This is waterless, oil-free, and additive free, even picky eaters can't put it down! Moreover, the most important thing is that this method is super simple and does not require deep frying. You and your child can do it together and enjoy parent-child time!

List of ingredients:

200g pumpkin, 2 tablespoons white sugar, 3g yeast powder, 300g flour, 1 black sesame

Method steps:

  1. Today when I returned to my hometown, I really got a lot of harvest. Grandma not only gave me a big hug, but also gave me a round pumpkin. Looking at the golden pumpkin, I thought to myself that I should do something delicious. With it, let's use it to make a dish shaped like French fries, ensuring that all the children at home will enjoy it. Firstly, cut the pumpkin in half. This time, we'll just use half of it. Then, peel off the skin and use a knife to slice it into pieces, just like cutting a watermelon. However, this time we won't cut it into small pieces, we'll slice it.

Next, put the sliced pumpkin slices into the pot, remember to put them in cold water, then turn on the heat. Wait for the water to boil and steam for another ten minutes. How do you know if it's steamed? It's very simple. Use chopsticks to lightly poke, and if it can penetrate, then it's steamed.

I weighed 200 grams of steamed pumpkin and added two spoons of white sugar. If you like to eat sweet, you can add more. Then, I used a rolling pin to mash the pumpkin into mud, which felt like playing with mud, but it was a sweet "mud".

  1. Once the pumpkin puree has cooled slightly, add three grams of yeast powder and stir until fully dissolved. Add 300 grams of flour gradually, stirring while adding until there is no dry flour left. Sprinkle a handful of black sesame seeds in, then start kneading the dough until it becomes smooth and slightly hard. Cover it with a lid and let it rise to twice its size.
  2. When the dough wakes up, sprinkle some dry flour on the cutting board, take out the dough and knead it to remove the empty space inside, then knead it into a long strip, press it flat, and use a rolling pin to roll it into rectangular pieces with a thickness of about 0.5 centimeters, just like the cookies we usually eat.
  3. Then divide the noodles into four parts, and cut each piece into long strips about one finger wide. The shape of the cut is like elongated French fries.
  4. After cutting, cover it with plastic wrap and let it rise for another ten minutes.
  5. Put cold water into a steamer, bring it to a boil over high heat, steam for ten minutes. After steaming, don't forget to turn off the heat and simmer for two minutes before removing from the pot. This way, the pumpkin strips will be softer.
  6. The golden steamed pumpkin strips are finally ready, making people drool at the sight. Moreover, without deep frying, they are more nutritious and healthy to eat than French fries. The steamed taste is soft and chewy, and the strong pumpkin aroma is overwhelming. I also specially prepared tomato sauce, which is even more delicious to dip in. Friends who like it should quickly collect and try it out. Thank you all!

Tip:

Pumpkin selection: When choosing pumpkins, it is best to choose those with golden color, smooth skin, and solid texture. Such pumpkins not only have a good taste, but also are more nutritious.
