Divine archer Hou Yi
After Xia Qi became the king, a tribe called Hu (pronounced h ù) rebelled against him and rose up in rebellion. A war broke out between Qi and the tribes of the Youhu clan, and ultimately Qi destroyed the Youhu clan and punished those captured as shepherds. Other tribes saw the appearance of the Hu clan and no one resisted anymore.
After Xia Qi's death, his son Taikang ascended to the throne. Taikang was a very incompetent monarch. He doesn't care about politics, he loves hunting. Once, Taikang went hunting with his followers on the south bank of the Luo River. He became more and more enthusiastic as he fought, and after going for a hundred days, he still hasn't come home.
At that time, there was a tribal leader named Hou Yi (Yi Yin Y ì) of the Yi ethnic group downstream of the Yellow River, who was ambitious and wanted to seize the power of the Xia king. He saw Taikang go hunting and thought it was an opportunity, so he personally led troops to defend the north bank of the Luo River. When Taikang returned with a large number of hunted wild beasts in high spirits, he walked to the edge of the Luo River, where Houyi's army was on the other side, blocking his way back. Taikang had no choice but to live in exile south of the Luo River. Hou Yi dared not declare himself king and appointed Zhongkang, the brother of Taikang, as the Xia king, seizing real power in his own hands.
Hou Yi is a well-known archer, and his archery is accurate with every shot. There is a myth that in ancient times, there were originally ten suns in the sky, and the ground was scorching hot, causing serious disasters to crops. Everyone, please remember Hou Yi as the leader. Hou Yi picked up his bow and arrows, and with a few whooshs, shot down nine suns in the sky, leaving only one sun behind. In this way, the climate on the ground is suitable and there will be no more droughts. It is also said that in ancient times, there were many monsters in the great rivers that often caused waves and floods, sinking crops and drowning humans and animals. It was only after Hou Yi shot these monsters to death with arrows that people's lives were restored to normal. These myths demonstrate that Hou Yi's archery skills are highly skilled and widely recognized.
At first, Hou Yi was just an assistant to Zhong Kang. When Zhongkang died, he simply drove his son away and seized the throne of the Xia Dynasty. He also rose to power with his archery skills. He, like Taikang, went hunting everywhere and entrusted national affairs to his trusted confidant Han Zhuo. Han Zhuo kept it a secret from Hou Yi and bought people's hearts. Once, Hou Yi returned from hunting and Han Zhuo sent someone to kill him.
Han Zhuo killed Hou Yi and seized the throne. He was afraid that the Xia tribe would compete with him again, so he must kill the Xiang who was driven away by Hou Yi.
