A cabin in the forest
There was a woodcutter who lived with his wife and three daughters along the edge of the forest.
One morning, the woodcutter was going to gather firewood. Before setting off, he said to his wife, "Let my eldest daughter come and bring me food at noon. In order for her to find me, I will sprinkle some millet on the road I pass by
As noon approached, the eldest daughter went to deliver food to her father, but the millet used to guide her direction was pecked by birds. She couldn't find the mark and got lost in the forest, not leaving until dark.
She felt very scared when she noticed a glimmer of light and followed it to a small wooden house. She knocked on the door and answered in a very stiff voice, "Let's go out
Entering the house, she saw an old man with a beard hanging down to his feet sitting at the table. She explained her purpose and asked the three plants next to the fire stove, "Is that okay, dear friends?" The eldest daughter then realized that there was also a little hen, a little rooster, and a flower cow standing there. They said all the way, 'We agree.'
So the old man said to her, 'Go prepare a dinner.' The eldest daughter made a table of delicious food and enjoyed it with the old man, completely unaware that the plants were still starving! After dinner, she asked the old man, "I'm tired, where can I sleep After hearing this, the plants were very angry and said, "You are all full, we are hungry, let's see where you sleep at night
There are two beds in the upstairs room. You go and put on white sheets, and I'll go sleep later too, "the old man said. After a while, the old man walked into the room and saw the eldest daughter fall asleep after only making her own bed. He angrily said, "You don't deserve to sleep here!" and then drove her into the cellar.
The woodcutter was hungry all day and came home at night to blame his wife. His wife was surprised and said, "My eldest daughter went to deliver food at noon! She must have lost her way because she didn't see the sign
The next day, the woodcutter instructed his wife, "Let my second daughter come to deliver the food tomorrow. This time, I'll sprinkle some more easily noticeable green beans on the road, and she'll be able to find me
But just like yesterday, the birds have eaten all the green beans again. The experience of the second daughter was the same as that of her sister. She only thought of herself and was eventually driven into the cellar by the old man.
On the third day, the woodcutter was going to chop wood again. He said to his wife, "Tomorrow, only the little girl will come to deliver the food." His wife disagreed and said, "I can't lose our most beloved child anymore!" The woodcutter comforted her, "Don't worry, I'll scatter bigger peas on the road. She's smart and clever and won't get lost
But the peas were eaten up by the pigeons this time, and the little girl lost her way. She thought that her father would go hungry and her mother would be sad, and her heart was filled with melancholy. Until the sky darkened, she still hadn't walked out of the forest. She followed the distant lights to the white bearded old man's hut and begged him to let her stay overnight. The old man still let the plants decide, and all three plants were willing. The little girl was very grateful and walked over to touch the feathers of the little hen and rooster, scratch the head of the flower cow, and say to them, "Thank you for these beautiful plants
At the old man's command, the little girl prepared a sumptuous dinner, but she didn't eat immediately. Instead, she took some barley and sprinkled it in front of the little hen and rooster. She also picked up a large bundle of hay and brought it to the mouth of the flower cow. Afterwards, she carried a bucket of water and said to the plants, "Please enjoy it to your heart's content!" After finishing these things, she began to eat herself.
After dinner, she said goodnight to the plants, and they also wished her a good night's sleep. The diligent little girl first arranged the sleeping places for the plants and made the bed for the elderly, until they fell asleep before she went to rest.
Late at night, she was awakened by the sudden sound of the house suddenly retracting. The room seemed to be rapidly expanding, and after a long time, the sound gradually calmed down. The little girl, who had been tired all day, fell asleep again. The next day, the little girl was shocked to find herself sleeping in a magnificent palace. Three other servants respectfully asked her good morning in front of the bed, "Miss Bright, do you need anything?" "Thank you, I don't need anything," she replied, "I'm going down to prepare breakfast for the old man and the little plants." As she spoke, she looked towards the old man's bed and found that the white bearded old man was missing, but there was a beautiful young man sitting there. When the young man saw her wake up, he said to her, "I am the prince here, who has been transformed into an old man by witchcraft. Only these servants who have been transformed into plants accompany me every day. Only by encountering a girl who is full of love for both people and plants can we eliminate witchcraft. And you are such a girl. Your kindness and love have saved us. Are you willing to be my bride?" "Yes, I am," the little girl answered shyly.
Afterwards, the prince sent someone to pick up the girl's parents and invited plants from the forest. They held a grand wedding in the palace.
The two selfish sisters were sent to work at a charcoal factory in the forest, and only with enough love could they be free.
